Prince of Wales Lodge No. 1705

W.M. 2008 - 2009

Ian Frederick Chase

Ian Frederick Chase was born on 7th April 1945 at  Steep near Petersfield, in a country house called 'Colliers' which had been requisitioned during the war as a maternity unit. Legend has it that every child born at Colliers was presented with a silver spoon.
Ian does not have that spoon, but it could explain the gap in his two front teeth!
Ian's parents, Bernard and Sheila, and older brother Alan returned to Gosport after the war, where Ian attended Newtown Infants, Leesland Primary, and the Grove County Secondary School for boys.
On leaving school in 1960 aged 14, Ian became an apprentice hairdresser, he was 15 on the Thursday of his first week at work.
He met and married Christine in 1964, they have two children, Samantha and Matthew, and two grandchildren, Luke and Lilly, plus four cats and two rabbits!
Ian has been continuously running his own businesses since 1966, and currently has a busy ladies and gentlemens hairdressing salon in Gosport.
Ian was Initiated into Rowner Lodge No. 6974 in January 1991 attaining the Chair of K.S. in 2001.
Ian became a joining member of the Prince of Wales Lodge No. 1705 in 1994, having been proposed by the late lamented Bro. Dave Pickering and seconded by W. Bro. Malcolm Brice.
In July of 2008 Ian received the provincial honour of P.P.A.G.D.C. and in on 23rd October, the further honour of being installed into the Chair of K.S. of the Prince of Wales Lodge No. 1705.
Ian is particularly proud to be on the same honours board as his headmaster at Leesland school, the late Chandos  J. Washington who was the Worshipful Master in 1960.  W. Bro. Washington is on the Gosport honours lists four times with; the Prince of Wales Lodge No. 1705, M.E.Z. of Alverstoke Chapter No. 1705, M.W.S. of  Solent Chapter No. 400 Rose Croix, and M.P.S. of  the Rose of Wessex Conclave of the Red Cross of Constantine.
However, Ian is catching up and currently features on three boards. He is the current (as at October 2008) First Principal of Lee Britten Royal Arch Chapter No. 5782.
Outside of Freemasonry, Ian is an avid Portsmouth F.C. fan and is a season ticket holder.

Installation Meeting 2008

The Installation meeting held on Thursday 23rd October 2008 was an evening to remember for all concerned.
The meeting was the setting for the first 'gathering of the clans' where as many of the other Prince of Wales Lodges throughout the world that could make it were in attendance. On the evening itself at least 171 (being the total number of Brothers that actually signed the attendance register) were in attendance! But 180 sat down at the Festive Board and some Brethren that had been at the ceremony could not stay to dine?!

We were also delighted to be able to welcome W. Bro. Allan Gregory A.P.G.M. who was able to be with us for the evening.

Photographs were taken throughout the evening and rather than actually trying to put them all up here we have placed them on a specialist photograph website at this link. If you visit this site you will be able to see the selection of photos and, should you wish, actually order prints online. Prints cost from just 10p each.

Representatives of the following Prince of Wales Lodges were in attendance:

Prince of Wales Lodge No. 951 - Stow-on-the-Wold

Prince of Wales Lodge No.959 - Ipswich

Prince of Wales Lodge No.1003 - Jersey

Prince of Wales Lodge No.2520 - Newcastle

Prince of Wales Lodge No.4845 - Sutton

Prince of Wales Lodge No.222 - Bray, Ireland

Lodge Prince of Wales No.246 - Renfrew, Scotland

Royal Prince of Wales Lodge No.1555 - Penang, Malaysia.
